FOUR SURE STEPS

THE FOUR SURE STEPS

Introduction To My Testimony

A few years back, I was one afternoon leaning against the steel rails of Nyali bridge, my head bowed down, feebly supporting my chin with my hands. A weighty burden hung on my shoulders, and a heavy stone was tied to my neck. However, none of the passersby noticed, though some even brushed against me as they busily walked past... I was in much distress, and in much pain, though none could hear my faint, painful cry and come to my rescue. I was totally lost, carried away in deep thought – asking myself so many questions, without any answer! I had been in Mombasa for 5 years, without ever securing a job! My life had been a series of nightmares, despite the fact that I had basic formal education (up to second year university). The pain had become unbearable, and my hopelessness had took me to Nyali bridge, where I had secretly planned to get ‘a final consolation’. But while I was still wearily and deeply lost in thought, meekly meditating my next move, amidst sobs whose tears dropped acid into my heart, somebody tapped my shoulder and called my name... WHEN I GOT SAVED

When I got saved, in the year 2015, my pastor gave me a Bible. And I started a fresh new life. I had been (for many years) doing things my own way: I had believed in myself, witchdoctors, education and planning as the way to happiness and accomplishment. I had done so many projects, all of which ended in immense frustrations. I always blamed somebody for my failures. For 10 years, I had been embarking on a project after another, very viable projects, but none yielded in! I had got fixed in chain smoking and uncontrolled alcoholism, chewing miraa and living a life of disillusionment. My friends (whom I associated with then) can confirm this to you. I never went to church, and I never cared much about religion and the power of God to come into my life and save me. And as I sank deeper into the drug circus, things turned from bad to sour, until I finally found myself totally stuck in deep waters, at the sea bed, drowning in immense frustrations, rejection, joblessness and  depression – crying out for help, but there was no one to come to my rescue; no one to hear my cry, no one to reach out for me...

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be you dismayed: for the LORD your GOD is with you wherever you go.’
